Abstract
The deformation behavior of Cr23 ferrite/austenite duplex stainless steel has been investigated at deformation temperatures from 1173 to 1473 K and strain rates from \( 0.01 \) to \( 10\,{\text{s}}^{ - 1} \) at a given total strain of 0.8. The results show that the flow stress is strongly influenced by the deformation temperature, the strain rate and the strain. There is a balance between the working hardening and the softening at strain rate of \( 1\,{\text{s}}^{ - 1} \) and elevated deformation temperature when the strain is in excess of 0.25. The softening mechanism of the dynamic recovery and dynamic recrystallization is prominent at lower strain rate less than \( 0.1\,{\text{s}}^{ - 1} \). The Arrhenius-type constitutive model is used to predict the flow stress which is closed to the experimental data.
