Abstract

Double outlet right ventricle is a type of anomalous ventriculoarterial connection that represents 0.5–1.5% of congenital cardiac defects and can express several “phenotypes.” This conotruncal anomaly presents with a wide spectrum of anatomical forms depending on the location of the ventricular septal defect, the relationship between the great vessels and the ventricular cavities, and the presence of a pulmonary flow obstruction. Furthermore, DORV may or may not be associated with hypoplasia of one ventricle. This chapter provides an overview of the facets related to diagnosis and medical and surgical management of this cardiac malformation.
