Abstract

Benign prostatic hyperplasia may cause lower urinary tract symptoms in men as early as in the fifth decade of life. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is the gold standard for the surgical management of benign prostatic obstruction. The incidence of urethral stricture disease after TURP can range from 2.2% to 9.8%. Patients with urethral strictures after TURP are fundamentally treated in a similar fashion as idiopathic strictures.
