Abstract

Family history of a patient with hyper-IgM syndrome is a cornerstone of the diagnosis

Serum IgA, IgM and IgE levels might be normal, but serum IgG level is always reduced with high to normal number of B cells

Acquired forms of hyper-IgM can be seen in congenital rubella syndrome, use of antiepileptic drugs like phenytoin, and malignancies such as T cell leukemia, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma
