Abstract
Spinal cord tumors overall have an annual incidence of 2–10/100,000. Intradural tumors account for 4–10% of all primary tumors. Astrocytomas and ependymomas account for 80–90% of all intramedullary tumors. Nerve sheath tumors (neurofibromas and schwannomas) and meningiomas account for 80% of intradural extramedullary tumors. The correct diagnostics are very important prior to surgical decision-making. Benign spinal cord tumors have a good prognosis with careful surgical technique.
