Abstract
Art crimes have been committed for as long as art has been made and yet the study of this interdisciplinary phenomenon is relatively new. To date, it has predominantly been male-centric. The Introduction sets up a case for this separate study of women, art, and crime and the obstacles encountered in writing an alternative art history, as well as providing the inspiration for such a study.
