Information Versus Data

Chapter

Abstract

As outlined in the previous chapter, the number of the parts, the properties of the parts and the interactions among the parts that make up a system cause the complexity of the system. In a Cyber-Physical System (CPS) the interactions of the parts are realized by the exchange of information among the parts in cyberspace and by retrieving and sending information from/to the physical space, i.e., a user and/or a physical process. But what is information? What is the information content of a database?
