Abstract
One of my favorite places to be in nature is near water. The sound of running water is soothing and, if I am alone, can produce a Zen-like meditative state. Staring at the ripples on the water’s surface and the constantly changing distorted reflections of the surrounding terrain is all that is needed for a meditative pause. Often though, the sounds and sights of rivers and streams aren’t enough for me. For some reason, I am drawn to touch the water’s surface. I don’t feel the need to plunge my hand into the water but just to run my fingers along the surface of the river.
