Abstract
The development of newer extracellular matrix (ECM) wound devices has provided topical wound healing options for treating challenging wounds previously relegated to complex operative surgical procedures. The luxurious blood supply of the head and neck region affords more local flap treatment options not possible in other regions of the body. In the head and neck region, while some have used it as a primary treatment modality with good success, we have employed the UBM-ECM wound device more as an adjunct to standard surgical procedures. This chapter summarizes our experience treating 38 patients with the UBM-ECM wound device in the head and neck region with recommendations for optimal use.
