Abstract

The Podemos phenomenon has marked the political cycle that started in Spain after the 15M. Without its emergence, based on a successful counterhegemonic politicization of prevailing common sense, it is impossible to explain the crisis of the so-called 1978 Regime and how this crisis has opened a window of opportunity to rethink the Spanish constitutional pact. However, the civilizational crisis, especially in its ecological dimension, inaugurates a new framework in which the continuous expectations regarding the standards of material life that are typical of advanced industrial societies will be systematically frustrated. This chapter analyzes the Podemos phenomenon as a reality trapped in this complex contradiction.
