Abstract

In 2011, the squares and social networks of half the world were filled with bodies and words. Hundreds of thousands of people began to say and to do things which analysts, experts and journalists were largely unable to describe by invoking the traditional forms of political expression. Was this a global social movement? What political and institutional translation would it have in each country? To understand today’s new forms of politicization, it is necessary to develop a form of situated thinking, that is, one which allows us to think along with these experiences in order to properly grasp the concepts and demands that have recently emerged. To this end, this chapter dissects the principal coordinates, key traits and main challenges associated with today’s new politics.
