Abstract
Networking is the key to developing an academic surgical carrier. Due to the nature of surgical education, most of this networking occurs on a national level. Unfortunately, there is no clear road map on how to get involved in national organizations and professional societies. This chapter reviews the resources available for junior faculty and describes a strategy on how faculty members can boost their national profile in surgical education. In addition, specific opportunities for involvement in a selected group of national organizations are presented as reference.
