Abstract

The majority of work undertaken for this thesis has been fabricating van der Waals heterostructures. It is essential that the methods used are described as experimental results from devices can only be properly interpreted with a complete understanding of the fabrication method. Devices made from two-dimensional (2D) materials require a range of techniques performed in separate steps that are different for each device architecture. It would be too cumbersome to describe the detailed process for each different device, therefore relevant details for each step have been included in this chapter.
