The Chronicles of Spirit Wrestlers' Immigration to Canada

Abstract

All the capital and the community property of the Orphans’ Home fell into the hands of the Gubanovs and their followers. Most Doukhobors had made contributions to this home and they earnestly asked the Gubanovs not to pursue such a course because it was not good or moral for several people to take over the belongings of the entire community. All these entreaties did not have any effect and the Gubanovs, who in spite of everything, took over all of the community property which had belonged to all the Doukhobors.

Notes

  1. 1.

This may be an allusion to the saying attributed to Jesus Christ, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” The eye of the needle stands for a narrow path to heaven described by Pëtr Verigin.

  2. 2.

An episode from the Bible (Genesis) where Lot was told by angels to flee the corrupt city of Sodom which was about to be destructed and not to look back. However, his wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt.

  3. 3.

“Caesar’s trial” refers to the government court trial since the Russian word “tsar’” originates from Latin “Caesar.”
