Notes
- 1.
William Blakemore was a Victoria journalist who was authorized to investigate the Doukhobors in 1912. The investigation was called “Royal Commission on Matters Relating to the Sect of Doukhobors in the Province of British Columbia (1912).”
- 2.
It appears that the author G. Verigin attempted to translate the Blakemore report closely to the original. However, in some cases, there were some deviations from the original text based on the narrator’s understanding of the text and the matter at hand. Therefore, the text was retranslated from Russian. The translator left as much of the original report as possible, while at the same time incorporating the modifications by the author G. Verigin. The original section of the Blakemore report can be found on https://open.library.ubc.ca/collections/bcsessional/items/1.0065738.
