The Hamiltonian of a two-level quantum system can be written as
where \(|0\rangle \) and \(|1\rangle \) are its orthonormal eigenkets corresponding to the eigenvalues \(-\hbar \omega /2\) and \(+\hbar \omega /2\), respectively.
