Abstract
This section presents the main features of the chapters presented in the book with several inputs from the authors of the different chapters. The chapters are divided into three main topics: surface and ground water bodies, water in the landscape and hydro-management of water resources completed with introduction and conclusion part. Introducing part is completed with the chapter about the hydro-technic laboratory in Brno University of Technology. The first topic is devoted to water bodies in the Czech Republic, mainly to rivers, springs, small water reservoirs, ponds, wetlands and their protection as well as groundwater flow regime. The second topic is focused on human activities influenced the water resources in the landscape. There are described mainly mining and agricultural activities and their effects to land use and water-retention capacity of the landscape; also, floodplain forests are included to this topic. The third topic deals with water management and hydrology issues. It is devoted also to technical issues—hydro-technic construction for water resource assessment, protection and management.
