Abstract
In the entire history of physics, there have been four men — Archimedes, Galileo, Newton, and Einstein — who belonged to a class of their own, far above the rest. Of the four, Isaac Newton (1643–1721) belonged to a period neither too far in the past nor too close to the present, which has led to a trail of fables and (usually exaggerated) anecdotes about him. In this chapter, we will explore some aspects of the life and work of Newton.
