Abstract
In this monograph, we studied the design of a supervisory controller based on the model predictive control (MPC) strategy. The MPC-based reference governor (MPC-RG) is the superior controller to lower level regulators, often denoted as primary controllers. The design and the structure of the MPC-RG are hugely dependent on the model of the closed-loop system consisting of the model of the plant and the model of the primary controller. The synthesis of the MPC-RG hence had two phases: the first was the modeling of the closed-loop, and the second was to incorporate the model into the MPC framework.
