Abstract
This chapter examines the role of the EdTech team in supporting faculty who dare to explore technology-driven modes and methods of teaching and scholarship. It describes resources and training for faculty seeking to learn and implement new pedagogical tools or to explore digital scholarship. It also outlines EdTech’s role as an advocate for faculty who use technology in their teaching or scholarship throughout the process of faculty reappointment, tenure, and promotion. Examples of this advocacy include—raising awareness of new modes of scholarly publishing and ensuring that online faculty receive mentoring, feedback, and guidance similar to faculty in the classroom. Finally, this chapter argues that creating a safe and encouraging environment for academics who engage in emerging and sometimes untested practices is rooted in best practices for organizational change and reflects the college’s values of progress and diversity.
