Abstract
This chapter provides a quick introduction to Hostos Community College and its characteristics of the teaching and student population. It describes the role of the Office of Educational Technology (EdTech), the technological structures on campus, as well as a brief history on the use of academic technology in the college. This book focuses on the decade of change in the organizational culture and the teams and initiatives that were formed after 2010, and this chapter begins with the formation of the EdTech team and introduces its principles and strategies to achieve its technology adoption objectives. It also provides a brief overview of the success of technology adoption and the results that were achieved during this decade. This chapter describes the difference between the status quo managers and change agents, and presents the background of Carlos Guevara as the new director of EdTech and his approach to create a team, frameworks, and strategies to promote innovation and see technology as an enabler to improve teaching and learning.
