Abstract

In this part, I reflect on the three ways of generalizing the dispositif of age, which show the tensions between the past, present, and future. For the description, I use Reinhart Koselleck’s categories of the space of experience and the horizon of expectation. The subject of my main interest is the political, media, and expert discourse related to the suicidal death of a Polish teenager. In the socio-cultural context of the hypermodern knowledge society, I describe the strategic logic of prevention, of the policy of fear, and the control of life, as a labyrinth of knowledge relations, power mechanisms, and forms of subjectivity. The effects of the dynamics of the conflict caused by the temporal, spatial, and individual excess of knowledge are presented in the form of three stories: orienting, sensitizing, and preserving the experience-expectation associated with youth.
