Abstract

The paper discusses mechanical properties investigated of a new kind of the composite material prepared by using the hand-layup method. Natural fibers of coir, epoxy and graphite fibers had been composited and tested for various strengths. It was found that these properties like tensile and flexural strength of the composite material increase with a decrease in the thickness of the materials. Two specimens were prepared with different thickness and tested, the tensile strength was 33.90 (Experimental) and 32.571(FEA) for specimen no. 1 and for specimen no. 2 it was 44.87(Experimental) & 44.857(FEA) respectively. Similarly, Specimen 1 showed flexural strength of 1495.8 & 1492.6 MPa and Specimen 2 showed the strength of 3140.80 & 3136.2 MPa respectively for experimental and FEA analysis.
