Abstract

It is not easy to present the essential features of the descriptive epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases succinctly and clearly. The exposition that follows will necessarily be rather cursory. There are two reasons for that. Firstly, several categories of these diseases exist whose epidemiology is quite different. Secondly, in many countries, in particular in Vietnam, the role of cardiovascular diseases is changing extremely fast.

Preventing cardiovascular diseases is now one of the main tasks of the Vietnamese health system . It rests on knowledge of their epidemiology.
