Abstract

The experimental strategy for direct dark matter detection is based on measuring a recoil of a nucleus after scattering with WIMP dark matter. For this process we can choose the optimal nuclear target based on the largest possible recoil energy. We start with the non-relativistic relation between the momenta in relative coordinates between the nucleus and the WIMP, assuming a nucleus composed of A nucleons and with charge Z.
