Abstract

The Health Ministries Association has a long history of supporting the development of ministries that promote and support the health of members of a faith community and community members at large. This chapter will present the mission, aim, and work of the Health Ministries Organization in supporting the development of faith community nursing from an interdisciplinary perspective. The Health Ministries Association is a professional membership organization which is the liaison with the American Nurses Association and is responsible for the ongoing review and updating the Faith Community Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. This multi-faith membership organization continues to strive to advance the integration of faith community nursing into the profession of nursing and health ministries into faith communities and society at large. The Health Ministries Association is a professional membership organization in the U.S.A. and is not international in its scope.
