Abstract

Urinary sediment diagnostics requires a bright-field microscope that is additionally equipped for phase-contrast microscopy. In this way, native, unstained urine sediment can be excellently analyzed using only one microscope and two microscopy techniques. The varying image qualities of the two microscopy techniques are illustrated and the additional equipment for phase-contrast technology is described in detail. Detailed instructions enable the user to independently check and align the phase-contrast set-up.
