Abstract

Unexpected Donor-Derived Infection is rare complicating less than 1% of solid organ transplants. Outcomes can be poor, however, and careful clinical and laboratory screening of donors is necessary is necessary to mitigate the impact of donor transmission of infection. This chapter will outline screening applicable to both living and deceased donors, and discuss the various categories of donor derived disease.
