Abstract

Curriculum development is a daunting task due to the complexity of regulation, requests, design, execution, and evaluation. The Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialist (HSTS) should be familiar with the concept, process, and relational role of curriculum development in order to integrate simulation design and execute simulations to fulfill the overall mission and vision of their programs. This chapter explores common components of curriculum development, provides an introduction to pertinent educational concepts, and provides a framework for operationalizing simulation programs to achieve course and program outcomes.
