Abstract

Simple, quick, and easy-to-perform bedside diagnostic procedures can often be used to aid diagnosis in a number of common dermatologic conditions including various cutaneous infections and pigmentary disorders. Some of the most common and useful of these include potassium hydroxide preparation, scabies preparation, Tzanck smear, gram stain, and Wood’s light exam. These procedures will be discussed in further detail in this chapter.
