Abstract
Family therapists (FTs) have a vital role to play in bringing about much needed eco-changes. One such way is through eco-activism that involves using direct, intentional actions to bring about changes and reforms that are intended to improve the health and well-being of our ecological system. This chapter explores how FTs can engage in ecological activism at the individual level by adopting ecologically sustainable lifestyle practices, while also encouraging and empowering clients (without imposing) to behave in ecologically sustainable ways. This chapter also discusses how the field of family therapy as a profession can engage in eco-activism and also adopt practices that support ecological sustainability.
