Abstract
In this chapter, the editors provide a brief history of the family therapy (FT) field as it relates to and intersects with the field of ecology. They also share how they each came to do research and clinical work in the area of eco-informed FT, as well as how they came to know each other. In addition, the case begins to be made for the need for a book of this kind, and the chapter closes with a summary of each of the remaining chapters that follow in this one-of-a-kind edited work.
