Abstract
Looking back now at my first trip to Taiwan — the one where I worked on the docking station — I can see that it changed me. I can even pin-point where it happened and how I changed. I was on the flight, in a comfortable seat on the upper deck of the Boeing 747. As I sat there reading a product development textbook trying to get ready for the wave of product development activities that would happen when we touched down, I remember thinking I can do this! I gained confidence that product development was not only for the elite, but that I could do it too and do it well. Even though I was in my last year as a university student, I transitioned — at that moment — from being student of product development to being a product developer.
