Abstract
The beginning of the twenty-first century is marking a major turn in the technological development by mankind. The combination of powerful computing platforms, networking, advanced algorithms, the ability to manipulate large quantities of data and machine learning methods has resulted into their tight integration with physical processes. Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) represent this integration enabling the monitoring and control of the physical processes, with feedback loops resulting in strong interactions between the controlling systems and physical processes.
