Abstract

Tensions between the ideals and the realities of coexistence in an increasingly religiously diverse world have been at the centre of major social and political developments in recent decades. Although still championed by many, the ideals often subsumed under the banner of pluralism—typically defined as the positive embrace of, and enthusiastic engagement with, diversity—are coming under increasing pressure.
