Abstract
Frozen shoulder, caused by capsular fibrotic adhesions, can induce debilitating pain and functional reduction. Arthrolysis is indicated in patients that do not respond to conservative management. A rotator interval and anterior release can be performed initially, followed by a posterior release if the capsule remains tight. Extensive capsulotomy can precipitate instability and should be avoided.
