Russian Business Diplomacy in Southeast Asia

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Russia’s Public Diplomacy

Abstract

The chapter gives a brief analysis of the trade and economic relations between Russia and South and Southeast Asia. It also covers Russian “Turn to the East” policy—the growing importance of South and Southeast Asia for Russia. It focuses on business diplomacy instruments and on state support of Russian export, evaluating its efficiency in the region. Besides, the chapter deals with digital business diplomacy in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and with the instruments for promotion of Russian high-tech products to South and Southeast Asia (e.g. the Russia-Singapore Business Council projects).
