Abstract
I had not been up to hike in the Colorado high country since my stroke. As a lifelong mountaineer, my spirit is always lifted by heading up high and breaking through timberline into a wonderland of blue lakes, bordered by windswept ridges and soaring peaks. There is something about traversing wild mountain terrain that brings a religious feeling to me. I feel free, and closer to God. I have always taken to heart the inspirational words of John Muir: “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings”.

My autobiography was primarily intended to record for history my writing the software for the world’s first spy satellite in 1960. The title of the book, The Crossing of Heaven, was intended to connote how the Satellite Revolution had changed the world.
