Abstract
By the mid-1970s, SD had become the leading firm designing petrochemical plants. It now had a catalyst manufacturing arm and an ability to carry out complete engineering and procurement functions and to construct some of the plants it was designing. In addition to designing plants based on licensed SD technologies, the company acquired from other firms the rights to offer a broad range of additional technologies. A number of examples of successful projects are presented. A book edited by Ralph Landau became a manual for chemical engineers working in the industry.
