Abstract
Abnormalities that affect the development of the human femur range from subtle differences that are of no functional or cosmetic consequence, to complete absence.
Involvement of the hip is invariable and advances in pediatric joint reconstruction in general, and hip reconstruction in particular has broadened the options available to affected individuals.
The condition of the hip is of primary importance in management decision-making and although the purpose of this chapter is to focus on the hip, an understanding and appreciation of all the associated abnormalities is also essential.
This chapter will concentrate on the pathophysiology and natural history of the hip in this condition and describe contemporary methods of surgical reconstruction, appropriate to this diagnosis.
