Abstract

Academic-Industry Partnership is important to increase knowledge exchange and boost the investigation. This partnership can be done in many ways, for instance, through: long-term projects investigation, academies or small projects to be developed by students. This paper presents an Academic-Industry Partnership case study between a Portuguese Higher Education Institution and a local Hospitality Industry. In this study the researchers analyse the benefits for students and the drawbacks results for both parts. The results show that for students there are many advantages since they can learn through real-world problems and deal with real customers. This way, students improve their communication skills and can observe the practical application of the theoretical concepts. In this case, the local Hospitality highlights the solution presented, even though considering that is crucial for this partnership to reduce the time consuming in production. In addition, the economy is constantly changing, and industries cannot wait a long time for products as they run the risk of being outdated.
