Abstract

A technician is mainly a technician but should also know about methods of marketing, innovation and how getting started with his idea in a short and practical way. A higher technical college with all its possibilities must be a place to learn. For technicians, the most important part is to try and make mistakes in the process. A mistake for a technician means that there is work for him, in other words an error gives a meaning to his oeuvre. The process of learning, searching for solutions and implementing these solutions is part of the typical work description of a technician. Standardization is another important part of a technician’s work. Value Management for example as a method of innovation is standardized in EN 12973 [1]. Standardization with comprehensible methods is needed if you want to be certified for ISO 9000 (EN 27000) [2] and is also necessary in the case of product liability. The literature on the market doesn’t give much material to spend time with, neither does it accord to the curricula of the higher technical college format. By creating two books we wanted to facilitate the teaching of our students in the fields of the newest market research methods, correct processes of strategy creation and modern methods of innovation such as the process of looking for problems, solving problems, analysing problems or the ideas portfolio, the Canvas Business plan—every step in the book has been tested and is now standardized material for education. We can teach the necessity of marketing and innovation in a practical manner. The outcome of the process can be implemented directly either with a start-up company of your own or as a further development in an existing company. The second advantage of the books is that they are not only books, but also advertising material for changing behavioural patterns.
