The Diabetes Textbook

Abstract

Diabetes medical nutrition therapy provided by registered dietitian/nutritionist has been shown to be effective and essential in the treatment of diabetes and in the management of diabetes and its complications. However, every member of the team has an important role in providing nutrition therapy and ongoing support. Just as there is no one medication or insulin therapy regimen that works for all people with diabetes, there is no one eating plan or nutrition intervention that applies to all people with diabetes. This chapter is intended to serve as a resource for all members of the diabetes healthcare team interested in evidence-based diabetes nutrition therapy.
