Abstract
Sports are a vital factor for the well-being, contributing for a good health. As it can be observed by amount of mobile applications related to sports available in the market. Moreover, sportspeople have distinct training objectives and purposes, consequently customization and adaptation to different individuals’ profiles are gaining attention. Certified personal trainers are the correct professionals to create customized fitness training plans. Meanwhile, to maximize results they need to know their customers’ habits and monitor their progress. In this work, it is presented the Personal Trainer Guide (PTGuide) platform formed with a mobile and web application for personal trainers and their customers, respectively. The aim of PTGuide is to identify digital mechanisms where the services provided by certified personal trainers can be enhanced. A study was conducted on the analysis of similar mobile applications and a survey questionnaire. The study showed that the platform should include a web application for personal trainers and a mobile application for their customers. Among others, the web application intends to manage certified personal trainers, customer management, individual trainings and nutrition plans configuration. The mobile application permits customers to be guided through the individual fitness training and nutrition plans. The tests showed that users, namely, personal trainers are very comfortable and satisfied with the system. It was considered useful and interesting.
