Abstract

Juvenile ageism is concealed by rhetoric that idealizes children even as their interests in adult affairs and their stake in our future economy are ignored. Our nation’s failure to plan for the future of our children is not considered the same kind of failure as parents’ failure to plan for their daughters’ and sons’ futures. Because the prejudice and discrimination of juvenile ageism are not recognized, we need to know more about these powerful hidden forces that victimize our young citizens.

Youth is a wonderful thing.

What a crime to waste it on children!

George Bernard Shaw
