Abstract

DEM can also be used to evaluate the contact forces with which the transported material affects the bucket surfaces, or other parts of the bucket elevator. Therefore, we conducted an experiment, when the elevator boot was filled with 10,000 calibration particles for simulation. Next, several scooping cycles were carried out at different elevator speeds, according to Table 8.1. These forces were evaluated in a chart in dependence on time. For clarity, the charts give only three speeds of material filling into the bucket. The scooping is plotted in Fig. 11.1, whereas the direct flow filling is given in Fig. 11.2.
