Abstract
The introductory chapter reconstructs the history of the TV show from its first airing in the early 1990s to the film Fire Walk with Me (1992) and the series’ revival in 2017, examining also the various products as well as the opposite reactions of the public that the program generated in the past two decades and a half. Sanna also illustrates how Twin Peaks created a cult following that is still alive and thriving and generated an enormous production of critical debate on the series’ multiple thematic concerns and visual aspects. The introduction simultaneously examines the works of the series’ creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, reconstructing their careers up to the present time.
