Abstract

Designers describe the functionality of a design using RTL code. The functionality of the RTL code is verified using a set of testbenches which pump in stimulus into the RTL code. The designer observes the behavior of the RTL code to identify any functionality that may not behave as expected. When such unexpected behavior occurs in the simulation, the designer fixes the RTL code and resimulates. This repeats in a loop until the designer is satisfied that the functionality of the RTL code is as expected.
