Last Mile at FTTH Networks: Challenges in Building Part of the Optical Network from the Distribution Point to the Users in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Since revenues in the telecom sector are falling, It’s getting more and more important to reduce the cost of building of new optical networks. The technical-economic analysis based on practical experience is conducted in this paper. This analysis includes consideration of the costs (CAPEX-Capital Expenditure, OPEX-Operating Expenses) of building a part of the network from the distribution point in a street cabinet to the user. Different types of optical networks as urban area, suburban, rural area 1 and rural area 2 are considered.
