Abstract

Man has never stopped hunting at sea. Although we have cultivated the land and raised livestock for millennia, in the sea we have not taken up mariculture to replace the fishing that is carried out all over the world, although it is increasingly important, as will be seen in future chapters. This reflection has always confirmed to me how divorced we are from the marine environment and how far we are from managing it sustainably.
